RE: [Ayuda] Linux pequeno para laptop

Much better!!! :)

Ok, you don?t specify some important data about your machine (CPU speed,
proccessor, HD size, RAM, etc.) but in this moment many Linux distros have a
very good hardware recongnition, I think that almost all ditributions today
will have a good chance to detect all your hardware. If you are comfortable
with Red Hat, maybe a RH9 with a good selection of packages is an option.
But it?s depends how much hardware you have. (In my work I have a RH9
working very smooth with a Pentium II 400MHZ with 256MB of RAM and a 10GB
HD).

Another distros, Debian for example, will get you more control about the
software you install, but is a little bit hard to setup. But if you have a
small disk space or low memory, Debian is a good choice.

Maybe if you post more info about the hardware you have...

Hi. Sorry about that. I did get a couple of good answers despite my bad
Spanish, but here is the translation.
I'm a US resident with a young Mexican friend who lives in the
countryside about 4 hours from Acapulco.
My friend knows Linux pretty well, and wants a laptop installed with
Linux, to receive e-mail for his entire village. (It would be for
everyone. Eduardo reads Spanish and English (and Mayan) but the rest of
the town is illiterate.)
I have an old Dell Inspiron 3000 with Red Hat 6.0, in English, installed
on it. But I was wondering if there was a small Linux, in Spanish, with
only the essentials, that still ran Mozilla, but had all the drivers I
would need.
(The reason I was thinking of this is because people will want to send
photos, and there will be nowhere for the photos to go but the hard drive.)
The village's telephone numbers are 011-52-95455-342-48 and 49. Is there
internet access in that area? Does anyone know?
I hope to fly down in September.
THank you for any information.
Susan

Sorry, but I (maybe another member in the list get it, but I not) can?t
understand clearly what you pretend, the spanish in this email is very
confusing. Maybe if you try to re-send this email in english it will
be more
easy to understand for some of us.

  Thank you.
